New Manaan Stronghold released for Star Wars: The Old Republic

I'm sure you know this already if you play Star Wars: The Old Republic, but the new Manaan stronghold came out today.  Located on the water planet of Manaan, the house can be expanded 4 times and features a stronghold hook (hint: target it from the upstairs) and a glass floor so you can watch the Firaxa swim by your house (about every ten minutes or so).

The new stronghold brings the total maximum of houses you can own to 6, but I'm still not sure if the Conquest bonus has been raised as well.  Pricing for the new stronghold:

  • Stronghold unlock: 2,500 CC or 2,500,000 Credits
  • Room 1 – Interior Expansion: 1,400 CC or 2,000,000 Credits
  • Room 2 – Rooftop Garden: 800 CC or 975,000 Credits
  • Room 3 – Deepwater Sanctuary (South): 1,150 CC or 1,450,000 Credits
  • Room 4 – Deepwater Sanctuary (North): 1,150 CC or 1,450,000 Credits

I have not purchased the house just yet (trying to decide if I want to use cartel coins or credits), but when I do, expect a picture post showing off the layout.  A lot of people feel it is too small, but I toured a few on The Ebon Hawk and I think the size is really perfect for the sixth house and the layout is what I expected from Manaan.  The corridors are all curved (you will have flashbacks to kicking kolto barrels, for sure) and the underwater rooms are really gorgeous.

If you are interested in trying out the game, feel free to use my referral link.  You get stuff, I get stuff, it's pretty cool.  If you are on The Ebon Hawk and want to teach me how to tank Tyth, leave a comment!

Review: Soulworker, or, Welcome to the Grind

Soulworker is an anime action brawler, created by Lion Games and published by GameForge.  Set in a post-apocalyptic purgatory, you play one of (currently) four young schoolchildren who fell from the real world into the world of Soulworker.  The tutorial gives you the setting, which varies slightly for each character, and then moves you to the first hub area.  From there, you begin questing so you can get gear so you can do harder quests for more gear and to progress the story, using energy every time you enter a quest area.  The combat is a lot of fun, but if you're unwilling to pay - the current in-game economy is beyond ridiculous, and the premium currency is wildly overpriced - the game gets very grindy. The characters are the different classes, and the character designs are all very charming, even if they go a bit far on the 'females are to be looked at' side.  There's Haru, a broadsword wielding pre-med student who is apparently allergic to things coveri...

Review: Gen Con 2008

This year, Gen Con celebrated its 41 st straight year of being “The best four days in Gaming” while simultaneously mourning the loss of Gary Gygax, considered to be one of the fathers of modern roleplaying.   Approximately 85,000 consumer and professional attendees filled the Indianapolis Convention Center for the four days of the convention, shopping, eating, and exploring not just the space allocated to Gen Con but a large part of downtown Indianapolis as well. Gary Gygax passed away earlier this year at the age of 69 at his home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, where the very first Gen Con was held in 1967.   One of Mr. Gygax’s favorite charities (among many) was the Fisher House ™ Program, which provides “comfort homes” near major military and VA hospitals, enabling military families to stay near one another in times of crisis.   Annually, the Fisher House™ program serves more than 10,000 families, and have made available nearly 2.5 million days of lodging at no cost t...
